Policies

Welcome to Kristina’s Studio of Dance. It is my desire that you spend many "dance happy" hours with us. The study of dance can bestow on the dancer unlimited amounts of poise, grace, and beauty. All are prerequisites to a healthy and self-assured attitude at any age in life. Dance classes can provide many attributes beyond the obvious dance expertise. Development of commitment, perseverance, work ethic, discipline, time management, team work, and exercise to promote good health are just some of the lessons learned through this process. Also, making life long friends and having fun are insured.

Proper Dance Attire

All dancewear and shoes are obtained from Rockin' AB in McKinney (113 N. Kentucky St.  Suite 102; rockinab.com, ph 469-907-1053)

Tap & Jazz class: black/red cami, black dance shorts or black dance pants, tan tights, tan tap shoes and tan jazz shoes

Tap & Ballet class :Black/red keyhole leotard and tan tights for girls; black shorts and white T-shirt for boys. Tan tap shoes and pink ballet shoes for girls. Black tap and ballet shoes for boys

Ballet Class Only– solid black leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes.

Technique Class– Same dancewear as required for Jazz classes along with jazz shoes.

Hip Hop Class– Black sweat pants or athletic pants,  T-shirt; tennis shoes for class. Hip Hop shoes will be used for recital (color and style will be announced at least 4 weeks before recital).

I consider it absolutely essential that correct dance clothes be worn at all classes. A student cannot possibly perform in a manner whereby a teacher may observe their body movements unless proper dance clothes are worn.  All students will have a designated dance outfit which must be worn to every class. Students not wearing the studio uniform along with tights will be asked to sit and observe their class for that period.

Tuition

All tuition is payable in advance only. Tuition must be paid no later than the 10th of each month. If paying with cash or a check, fees are $65.00 per month for a one-hour class one day per week.  The studio will also accept payment by Venmo and CashApp.  If using these methods, please contact the studio for specific details to ensure correct payment is credited to your account.  Fees for each additional hour are $45.00 per month. Tuition for families with more than one student is $55.00 per month for additional children taking a one-hour class per week. To ensure proper credit, payments should be placed in the tuition box located in the lobby.   There will be a $25.00 service charge on returned checks and a $20.00 late fee added to accounts not paid by the 10th of the month.

I expect 100% payment on all accounts each month. There will be absolutely no exceptions. If the balance has not been paid by the 10th of the month and arrangements have not been made with the bookkeeper to pay at a later date your credit card will be charged for tuition or balance owed. Students with unpaid balances will be dropped from class. If you have an issue please notify the bookkeeper and she will discuss the problem with you.

Our policy must be strictly enforced. Please be on time with your payments so neither my staff nor I am put in the uncomfortable position of having to call you or drop your child from their class because of nonpayment. If there is a problem with your statement, please notify my bookkeeper and she will discuss the problem with you.

No Price Reduction for Holidays

There will not be a price reduction for classes not attended by students due to holidays. Classes will not be held:

November 20-24, 2023 (Thanksgiving)

December 18, 2023 – January 1, 2024 (Christmas)

Class will resume on January 2, 2024.

March 11-15, 2024 (Spring Break)

You are paying for 4 lessons per month. Full tuition is due for months with holidays because some months have 5 lessons and there are also extra practices at recital time which you are not charged for.

Christmas Recital

A recital will be scheduled on December 3 at Sherman Middle School Auditorium and will be free for family.  If circumstances allow, friends and the public will be able to attend.

At Christmas, costumes usually cost $65 each. Payment for costumes is due October 5, 2023.  There is a $50.00 recital fee per student due by November 2, 2023 that offsets the expenses of the Christmas recital.

Spring Recital

A recital will be conducted at the end of the year on May 31st at Sherman Middle School Auditorium.  Students will be presented in recital under the most professional circumstances possible. Dress rehearsal will be held May 30th. It is mandatory that students participate in all rehearsals and they are required to stay for the finale the night of the recital. Students will stay in a holding room with plenty of adult supervision the night of the recital.

A down payment of $65.00 per costume can be made in December 2023 and the balance will be due January 4, 2024. If you wish, you may pay extra money each month towards costumes.

Costumes are ordered as early as possible to insure they get here in time for the recital. There will be no refund after the ordering date of January 4, 2024. If I have not received your child’s costume money by the due date, I will not order the costume.

$130.00 should be reserved for younger children’s costumes. Between $130.00 and $150.00 should be reserved for the older student’s costumes. These estimates are for 2 costumes. Additional costumes will be approximately $65.00 each.

There is a non-refundable $65.00 recital fee for all students. This fee helps to cover the high expense of the recital. (Expenses include: auditorium rental, programs, scenery, lights) Recital fees can be paid out over the course of the year as long as they are paid in full by February 15, 2024 or you may pay the total amount at registration.  A $30.00 non-refundable media fee will be due March 7, 2024 to cover a link for the recital video which will be sent out to all students.

Be Prompt

We prefer parents to bring children no earlier than 10 minutes before class and pick them up within 5 minutes after class ends. Please do NOT bring your children and leave them unattended. The studio is not a babysitting service.

Attendance

There is no substitute for regular attendance to insure steady progress. Once a child is registered in a class, their particular place becomes important to the teacher who must arrange dance routines according to the number of pupils enrolled in each class. For this reason, it is most important your child attend every session.

Perfect attendance certificates will be given at the spring recital to all students with a perfect record of attending classes.  Missed classes cannot be made up in order to obtain perfect attendance.

Teachers

I have selected each of my staff members very carefully.  Several of my instructors have earned degrees in dance and have performed professionally.  Other staff members are former Kristina’s dancers with a more than 85 years combined experience among them. Please be supportive of my teaching staff. We all have your child’s best interests at heart.

Parents

While COVID-19 restrictions are in place, parents/guardians are encouraged not to wait in the studio lobby.  We are still following cleaning practices after each class.  Parents can wait outside the door and we will bring students to them after their class.  Parents can choose to wait in the lobby area; however, parents in the classroom distract the students. You are paying for an hour of concentrated teaching. Do not throw it away by disturbing the students or teacher. We expect proper discipline at all times.

We are not responsible for lost articles as well as any injuries sustained while in the class or on the premises. Parents with questions may call the studio at 903-892-6950. We strive to provide a pleasant and professional atmosphere for all the children learning the art of dance. I hope you are pleased with your child’s progress in my classes. A non-refundable $40.00 registration fee will be charged at the time of enrollment.

Labeling Requirements

Please label all clothes, shoes, and equipment. Students must have a bag to carry dance apparel safely.

Parking

Enter the parking lot on Taylor Street and exit through Wood Street. Please take notice of “NO PARKING” signs placed on the same side of the street as the studio. Please remember there are small children in the parking lot at times, so drive slowly and carefully. If parking problems arise, feel free to park in the school parking lot and walk to the studio. DO NOT: park on Taylor Street for any reason, block the driveway at any time, use neighbor’s driveways for parking, or park in the Tenant’s reserved spot.
